  • Week 77 – What was the secret they were both hiding?

What was the secret they were both hiding?

He was pretending he didn’t know Katherine was a killer, and she was pretending she wasn’t one.

How long would this charade last?

Jonah didn’t think he could go on like this for very long. He wasn’t good at pretending, he had always been too blunt for his own good. And this wasn’t something small. Katherine had killed someone. Murdered them. He should have turned her into the cops already.

    Why hadn’t he?

    Because he loved her.

He stupidly loved a woman who could take the life of another human being then come over to go out to dessert like nothing had happened.

Did she know that he knew?

That thought had been running around inside his head the entire time they were at the restaurant. Did she know? What would she do if she knew that he knew? Would she kill him to? How was he supposed to function when all he could do was think about this? He couldn’t remember a single thing that they had talked about, he didn’t know what he said, or what she had said, or what he had eaten, or she had eaten, or how much it cost.

All he knew was the woman he was going to marry was a killer.

“Jonah? Is something wrong?” Katherine was looking up at him with those glowing golden eyes, looking all sweet and innocent, he wondered what went on behind those stunning eyes of hers.

    Was she planning something?

Katherine was tiny, not quite five feet tall, he was well over six feet, and he had lost count of the number of people who had told them how odd they looked together. He had always thought of her as his little fairy, she was so small and delicate, she was whimsical at heart, and had this way of sort of flitting about when she moved almost like she was flying.

He had always thought she was perfect. She was sweet and kind and amazingly empathetic. She never argued, she was always looking for things to do for him, she never complained, she didn’t cry or manipulate to get her way.

She was too good to be true.

    And obviously she was.

“Jonah?” Katherine took a tentative step towards him as though she knew exactly what he was thinking about and intended to do something about it.

He wasn’t going to let her kill him.

Before he even thought about what he was doing he had swung his fist. It connected with the side of her head with a kind of cracking sound, and she dropped, unconscious, to the floor.

  • Week 76 – Suddenly, a shot broke the quiet

Katherine still couldn’t believe she had done it.

She had wanted to for such a long time, thought about it, dreamed about it, and now it was done.

She couldn’t get the look in his eyes out of her mind.

    Shock.

    Horror.

    Fear.

He had been afraid to face death.

She didn’t think she was ever going to forget that look.

Suddenly, a shot broke the quiet. Katherine jumped a mile and spun around. Wait, that hadn’t been a shot it was just the door closing. She was going to have to get a grip, if she didn’t she was going to give herself away.

Pasting on a smile, she tried to make her voice as bright as possible, “Hi, Jonah.”

“What are you doing here?” Jonah looked surprised to see her. Surprised and wary. Why was he wary?

“Oh, uh, you gave me a key. Said to come over any time. Since, we, uh, missed dinner, I thought I’d stop by. Maybe we could go out for dessert?” Katherine felt so nervous she was sure it must be written all over her face.

“Sure,” Jonah said slowly. “We could do that.”

“We don’t have to if you don’t want to,” she said quickly. Jonah had never turned her down before when she’d asked him out, what was different now?

“No, its fine. Lets go.” Abruptly he turned and headed back out the door he’d just come through.

Katherine trailed along behind him. He was acting odd.

    Did he know something?

Was this her life now? Constantly wondering about getting caught?

Katherine didn’t think she was cut out for this.

Too bad she didn’t have a choice. She had done what she’d done and now she had to accept the consequences.

  • Week 75 – He still couldn’t get over

    This was unreal.

His eyes couldn’t believe what he was seeing.

There had to be a mistake. This couldn’t be true. It couldn’t really be happening. There had to be some other explanation.

    But what?

That was his fiancee. The woman he had known for almost four years now. The woman he loved. The woman he planned to spend the rest of his life with.

There was no denying it was here. She was standing there, long, curly chocolate brown hair reaching all the way down beneath her bottom. Amber eyes that glowed like two pieces of gold, with those impossibly long lashes. Plump, pale pink lips that were the most kissable he had ever seen. And a perfect body that felt so good that every time he touched it it was like he had died and gone to heaven.

It was her, standing there, with another man.

She had lied to him. Told him she couldn’t go out to dinner with him tonight because she had some family thing she had to take care of.

Instead she was out on a date with another man.

And he still couldn’t get over what he had just seen her do.

The woman he loved had just committed murder.

  • Week 74 – More, more, more!

“More, more, more!” her nieces and nephews chanted as they sat at the table, empty ice cream bowls in front of them.

Why had she thought she could do this?

She wasn’t a kiddie person, and while she loved her siblings and their children she didn’t know why she thought she could look after all six of her nephews and nieces at once.

    She had lost her mind.

That was really the only explanation she could think of.

“No more ice cream,” she told the screaming munchkins. “But you can go watch a movie and I’ll make some popcorn.”

A chorus of yays echoed through the kitchen followed by the sound of six pairs of little feet as the kids rushed off to the living room.

She looked around the kitchen and groaned. What a mess. This was going to take hours to clean up. How could six little people do this much damage in just a couple of hours?

“Hey.” Arms slipped around her waist and she was pulled back to rest against a strong chest. “Did you check?”

    “No.”

    “No? Why?”

“Because I don’t want to know.”

He chuckled. “Babe, you’re going to find out sooner or later anyway. Lets go look together.”

She didn’t want to but she didn’t fight when her husband took her hand and led her to the bathroom where her life could change forever.

“Do you want to do it?”

“No, you do it.” She had never been this afraid about anything before in her life. “Yes or no?” she asked when she heard his sharp intake of air. “Yes or no?” she repeated, unsure which answer she wanted to hear.

    “Yes.”

Her eyes flew to his. “Yes?”

He grinned back, then put his hands on her waist and picked her up, swinging her around the small bathroom. “Yes.”

    This was really happening.

She had been trying not to think about it for weeks. Avoiding it any time her husband brought it up. Blocking it from her mind as best as she could.

“Aren’t you excited?” her husband asked as he set her back on her feet.

“I’m terrified,” she admitted, hating that she had to say it, she was letting down the person she loved most in the world.

“Baby,” he smiled, and tucked her hair behind her ear and then cupped her cheek in his hand, “everyone is scared when they find out their about to become a parent for the first time.”

“I’m not ready. I’m not good with kids. What if I mess up our baby’s life? What if I’m a horrible mother?”

“No,” he said softly, kissing her forehead then putting his hands on her stomach. “You’re going to be an amazing mother. We’re both going to make mistakes but we are going to love this baby so much.”

“Our baby, we’re really having a baby,” she giggled as tears began to stream down her cheeks.

“We’re having a baby,” her husband echoed.

“Kiss me,” she curled her hands around his neck and pulled his head down so his lips could meet hers. She was still unsure about being a good enough mother, but they would learn together, and her husband was right, they would love this little baby more than anything else in the world.

  • Week 73 – ♡

She picked up her phone when it beeped.

    ‘♡’

Aww, her fiancee was so sweet. She wished she could see him but tomorrow they were getting married and tradition dictated that they not spend tonight together.

She was going to have to settle for texting.

    ‘I miss you’

    ‘I could come over’

‘No way, its bad luck to spend the

    night before your wedding together.

You’ll have to settle for texting’

    ‘Did you say sexting?’

    ‘Ha Ha, funny man

    I can’t wait for tomorrow’

‘I can’t wait for tomorrow night

She shivered. He wasn’t the only one looking forward to tomorrow night. It had been a long time since they had been together. Six months in fact. The day he had proposed she had decided that they shouldn’t sleep together again until the night of their wedding. At first it had seemed romantic, but as the months went by it turned to torture.

‘Thinking about what I’m going to do

to you when I get you to the hotel?’

Her cheeks heated, she knew exactly what he was going to do to her. He took great pleasure in detailing it in minute detail, his theory being that if he was dying with need then she should be too.

‘I’m going to kiss you senseless.

I’m going to devour every single

inch of your body. Every. Single.

Inch. Then I’m going to take you

so hard you’re never even going

to think of doing this abstinence

    thing again’

Her body was throbbing now and she was very ready to ditch both the waiting until the wedding night and the no seeing each other the night before the wedding idea.

    ‘We better say goodnight now’

    ‘Worried you’re going to come

    knock my door down?’

She could hear his smug laugh even though there were ten miles between them. She knew what he was like. She knew how much he loved torturing her like this.

    ‘Goodnight, almost husband’

    ‘Goodnight, almost wife’

    ‘I love you’

    ‘♡’
