Week 80 – Staring deeply into the dark
She sat at the window, staring deeply into the dark.
She couldn’t sleep.
She hardly ever slept these days.
Just cried.
Tears were about all her life had become. She cried, she barely slept, she barely ate, she barely ever wore anything but her pajamas, she barely left the house. Although she had survived her life had ended that day and she didn’t think she could ever get it back.
Nor did she think she wanted it back.
She wished she had died.
She never said it out loud because she didn’t want to worry her family, but that was how she felt.
Her brow furrowed.
Was that something moving out there?
A shadow darted from behind the apple tree to the side of the garage.
Someone was out there.
