Week 483 – What kinda crazy had she fallen into?

How stupid could she have been?

Bridget had handed herself over to the very people who had tried to kidnap her in the mall’s parking garage, she knew it because she’d seen the face of the man driving the van as he’d sped off and it was the same man who had just stepped out of the patrol car.

Panic and betrayal hit her hard, and she backed away from Brad and Beckett and the unknown man, then turned and ran, screaming as she went. This was a residential area and it wasn’t late, someone would see her, someone would help her.

But she didn’t get far.

Two houses down and a strong set of arms locked around her chest, snatching her off her feet as a large hand covered her mouth, muffling her screams.

Muffling more than that, because the hand covered her nose as well, preventing her from drawing in a proper breath.

“Get her inside,” Beckett said, as he hurried towards Brad’s front door, the man from the kidnapping following.

“You shouldn’t have run, Bridget,” Brad said, his voice low and somewhat apologetic as he carried her inside his home. “If I have to explain to anyone why I carried a screaming woman into my home its only going to make your situation worse.”

“Cuff her to something so she can’t run again,” the man from the kidnapping said, looking at her with dispassionate dark eyes as he dropped into an armchair and crossed his legs like he didn’t have a care in the world.

“I’m not cuffing her,” Brad said as Beckett closed and locked the front door behind them. “She can’t get past all three of us.”

“She won’t stop trying until she understands her position here,” kidnapping man said.

“Just do it,” Beckett said wearily.

“Fine,” Brad grumbled and he dumped her on the couch and pulled out a pair of handcuffs. “Sorry, little fighter, but they’re right, we can’t have you running.”

With that he snapped one end of the set of handcuffs around her wrist, and the other around his own. Staring between their bound hands, Bridget tried to breathe through the fear and keep her wits about her, because they were right, she wasn’t going to story trying to stop running.
