Week 484 – Bridget couldn’t think straight the moment those cuffs went on

Wide blue eyes looking up at him as he snapped the handcuffs onto her wrist and his own, and Brad didn’t even have to ask to know what she was running through her head.

Bridget couldn’t think straight the moment those cuffs went on.

Too bad for her they weren’t coming off. Couldn’t. Not until they convinced her that they needed her on their side. Needed her to sacrifice her own safety to help them get what they wanted.

What they needed.

“Are you going to kill me?” Bridget whispered and she curled in on herself, moving her body as far away from his as she could get, her bright blue gaze bouncing from him to his brother, to his cousin, and back again.

“No,” Brad answered firmly. “Never. Not at all. We don’t do that.”

Giving a borderline hysterical laugh, Bridget shook her head in disbelief. “You don’t do that? You just pretend to save women who are about to be kidnapped, convince them to get in a car with you, then bring them to your house where one of her would be abductors is hanging out, then handcuff them. Sure. I totally believe you won’t kill me.”

“We won’t,” Bronx snapped, his cousin anxious to get on with this.

“We won’t,” Beckett agreed, with a lot more gentleness.

“Then why am I here?’ Bridget asked. “Are you … going to do worse things to me than kill me?”

“Again, no,” he replied, unhappy she’d think that about them, even if he couldn’t argue that she had ever reason to think the worst.

“Then I don’t get it. What am I doing here? What do you want with me? Please, I just want to go home,” Bridget whimpered.

“You sure?” Bronx demanded. And he lifted his phone and turned it around so Bridget could see what was on it.

“That’s my house,” Bridget said with a horrified gasp. “And someone trashed it. What? Why? I don’t understand.” She rubbed at her temples with her free hand, making it clear she had a headache, and he found he didn’t like the idea of her being in pain.

“We’re going to tell you everything,” Brad assured her, needing her to know that, whether she knew it or not she was part of this now, and they needed her help.
